Sunday 13th July, 2025 marked the 5th ride of LGCC, but it was more significant in that we'd gone from just two of us getting out early on a Sunday to a group of 6 of us. A pretty big step up.

We met outside Vutie Beets in Letchworth at 7.30am, had a quick round of intros, faffed with the garmins and then headed off into a slightly overcast and cool Sunday morning.
The route was reasonably short at 44km with a planned 300m of elevation, but I may have neglected that most of that climbing was in the first 10km or so. Climbing up out of Baldock into Bygrave and Ashwell certainly woke up the legs. From there on out, it was plain sailing. Flat, quiet roads where we may have been neglecting the 'casuals' aspect of the club as we were running at 30+ km/h in a impromptu paceline but everyone was chatting and getting to know each other better.
One final climb out of Ashwell towards Newnham was the last test of the legs with a few of us giving it some welly before the final push back towards Letchworth and a well-deserved coffee and cake.

All-in-all, it was fantastic to have some new riders join and we kept true to our word around no-drop and all came through unscathed and (hopefully) raring to go again!
